FAITH TO SEE
That is why Pope Paul VI in the Credo of the People of God tells us that our Holy Redeemer "remains present, after the sacrifice. The Blessed Sacrament, which is in the tabernacle, is the Living Heart of each of our churches. And it is our very sweet duty to honor and adore in the Blessed Host which our eyes see, the Incarnate Word, Whom they cannot see, and Who, without leaving Heaven, is made present before us."
A WAY TO BEGIN
A good way to begin adoration is with a simple act of faith in Our Lord's Real Presence. Like His apostles, Jesus assures us, "Take courage. It is I, do not be afraid."
Let us pray: Jesus, I truly believe that You are really present.
EUCHARIST MEANS THANKSGIVING
Then, we thank Him for being with us in the Sacrament of His love. Pope Paul VI has said that the Eucharist is the greatest gift of the Heart of Jesus. Gratitude is the song of the saints and the music of Heaven. Our gratitude for Christ's gift of Himself to us in the Eucharist brings joy to our soul and delight to His Heart.
BEHOLD THIS HEART
"Behold this Heart, which has so loved men that it has spared nothing," Our Lord said to St. Margaret Mary, "even to exhausting and Consuming itself, in order to give them proofs of its love; and in return to receive from the greater number of them nothing but ingratitude ..."
"Insult has broken My Heart," we read in Scripture. "1 looked for sympathy..." and He has found you.
HE THANKS YOU
He thanks you for the comfort your adoration has brought Him. He thirsts for our faith, longs for our trust, and yearns for our grateful love. Faith, trust, and grateful love are the spiritual gold, frankincense, and myrrh that we bring to our Eucharistic King.
Let us pray: Thank you, Jesus, for being here in the Sacrament of Your love. |
