The Cuddlers for Christ Ministry began here at St. Francis in May 1999. This ministry involves the sewing of lap-size blankets that are given to many people who are either sick or going through extremely difficult times in their life. Many caring volunteers commit to prayer for the recipient, as they are fulfilling their part in the construction of the blanket. These blankets are taken to mass and placed on the altar, where they are prayed over again and blessed by a priest. Every person who receives a prayer blanket is lifted up in prayer weekly. The prayer blanket is a symbol of a faith-sharing communities’ covering of prayer for the individual who receives it.

     We are very much in need of people willing to sew blankets. If you have spare time and like to sew, this ministry may be just what you're looking for. What better way to share the gifts that God has given you and help those in need at the same time.
     This ministry is a non-profit, self- supporting project. It has been supported by the generosity of many people who have given or received blankets themselves. Checks can be made out to Cuddlers for Christ Prayer Blanket Ministry and sent or brought into the church office. Any donation is accepted with great appreciation.

     God has used this beautiful ministry to touch the lives of countless people who have received the blankets while enduring a difficult time in their life. We are fortunate to have many people that give abundantly of their time and talent. These prayer blankets have brought relief to the suffering and peace to the fearful. As one uses the blanket, he knows he is not alone, that there are those who care about him and are praying for his healing. This beautiful act of sacrifice before the Lord truly transforms this blanket into a prayer blanket whose very threads become interwoven with pleas for healing on behalf of the recipient.

     Anyone: adults or children afflicted physically or emotionally. Hundreds of blankets have been given to those stricken with cancer, AIDS, severe emotional distress, and others who just need to feel the enormous gift of love and warmth that emanates from these small blankets. 
     Wonderful reports have been received of the comfort they give. If you have a story to share, please write us. The volunteers treasure the testimony.

     O my God, behold your sick children before You. Heed their special requests, which they feel are most important for them. May You, my Lord, entrust to their hearts these words: The health of the soul, too, is vital.
     Lord, may Your will be done in them. If You choose their healing, may they be cured. If You choose another blessing, may they bear their cross with love.
I also pray to You for all who intercede for them. Purify our hearts that we may worthily convey Your holy mercy.
     Protect Your children and relieve their pain, that Your will may be done in them and Your presence and love may be revealed through them. Grant them the grace to bear their cross with courage.
